YOUNG SCIENTISTS COMPETE AT AREL News
This year, AREL College organized the 7th Inter-High School Active Experiment Contest which shows the emphasis on strong education of AREL and the importance AREL lays upon the science.
The Inter-High School Active Experiment Contest that has become a tradition within AREL College is now expanding with the participation of other schools around Istanbul. 350 students from 40 schools (state and private high schools) have participated in the contest organized with the aim of contributing to the development of science in our country, supporting science education (physics, chemistry, biology) at high schools, discovering talented students in the field and attracting attention to experimental studies.
Scientists of the future participating in the contest conducted the experiments in 5 sessions at AREL College laboratories. The experiments were selected to be student-centered, suitable to the curriculum, inclusive of scientific study steps. The students who learned the experiments to be conducted and the evaluation criteria during the contest showed great cooperation and solidarity. The evaluation was meticulously conducted by the selection committee that included academicians from Marmara University and Istanbul Arel University. Evaluation was based on the process and results of the experiments carried out within a determined period. At the end of the contest, students who achieved high scores received their awards.
At the awards ceremony, all the participating school directors were given memorial plaques, all the participating students received certificates of participation and the students that achieved high scores were awarded medals. In addition, AREL College provided all participants with pine saplings once more showing its sensitivity towards the environment.
