PYP encourages students to gain understanding of the world and to function comfortably and effectively within it. It is not based on learning by memorization. It is based on teaching students how to learn, and how to reach and follow information. It encourages students to develop independence and to become actively involved with their education.
In AREL Schools, PYP is followed in accordance with the national curriculum of Ministry of National Education. PYP accommodates the units and requirements of the curriculum of Ministry of National Education through six subject areas, transdisciplinary themes and units of inquiry. PYP puts a powerful emphasis on inquiry-based learning and aims to provide development of students as inquirers, both in the classroom and in the world outside. It prepares students to be active participants in lifelong learning.
